GoL · 100-Point Day Tracker for iOS

Support

Everything below is about GoL — the app that brings your GoLs, food, sleep, and activity into a score out of 100. If your question isn't answered here, email me directly and you'll get a real reply.

Get help

Email is the fastest way to reach me — it goes straight to me, not a queue.

Typical response: within one business day. GoL is a small independent app, so replies come from a person rather than a support bot. If you're writing about a bug, the details in Reporting a bug will get it fixed much faster.

Subscription & billing

What it costs

GoL is free to download, with monthly and annual GoL Pro subscriptions. Your first day lets you explore the tracking features before the paywall. Current pricing for your region appears in the app before you subscribe.

How to cancel

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, so cancelling happens in iOS rather than inside GoL:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap GoL, then Cancel Subscription.

You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Cancelling doesn't delete your data — see Account & your data if that's what you want.

Refunds

Apple processes every App Store refund, and developers can't issue them directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com using the Apple ID that made the purchase. If Apple declines and you think something genuinely went wrong, email me anyway and I'll do what I can.

I paid but the app still shows the paywall

  1. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID that made the purchase.
  2. On the GoL paywall, tap Restore Purchase.
  3. If it still doesn't unlock, force-quit GoL and reopen it — receipts sometimes need one refresh.
  4. Still stuck? Email me with your GoL account email and a description of what happened. Please don't send passwords or card details.

Apple Health won't sync

This is the most common thing people write in about, and it's almost always permissions. Steps, workouts and sleep all come from Apple Health — and because they come from Health rather than the phone itself, any device that writes to Health works: Apple Watch, your iPhone on its own, or a third-party ring or tracker that syncs into it.

  1. Open the Settings app → Privacy & Security → Health → GoL.
  2. Turn on every category you want tracked — Steps, Workouts, Sleep, and any others you use. A single category left off is usually the culprit.
  3. Reopen GoL and pull down on the Today screen, or tap Sync Now on the Apple Health card.
  4. Check that the source data is actually there: open the Health app and confirm today's steps or workout appear. GoL can only read what Health has.
Worth knowing

If you wear an Apple Watch, workouts and sleep can take a few minutes to reach the iPhone's Health app before GoL can see them. And Health data is read-only to GoL — nothing you do in the app changes your Health records.

Screen time isn't showing up

Screen time needs its own permission, separate from Apple Health:

  1. Confirm Screen Time is turned on in Settings → Screen Time. If it's off, iOS isn't recording anything for GoL to read.
  2. In GoL, check that your Screen Time GoL is set up and that you've confirmed which apps count for social or language-learning GoLs.
  3. Return to Today and allow a few minutes for iOS to report usage. If automatic tracking is unavailable, use the manual entry option shown in GoL.

Meals & macros

The macro percentages look wrong

They're almost certainly right — they're just measured differently than you'd expect. GoL shows each macro as a share of your total calories, not as a share of grams. Fat carries 9 calories per gram while protein and carbs carry 4, so 87g of fat is 783 calories and takes up far more of the pie than the gram count suggests. This is the honest way to read a day.

A logged meal came out wrong

Tap the meal, then the pencil icon, and correct any value by hand — calories and each macro are all editable. Corrections stick for that entry. If a particular food is consistently misread, send me the photo and what it actually was; that's genuinely useful for improving it.

Deleting a meal

Open the Fuel tab, find the meal in today's list, and tap the trash icon on its row.

My calorie balance says surplus and I don't think it should

Burned calories include your resting BMR plus active calories — not just your workout. The Fuel screen breaks both out under the balance number so you can see the split. If your BMR looks off, check your height, weight, age and activity settings in the You tab, since the estimate is built from those.

Streaks & OR slots

My streak broke and I don't think it should have

A personal streak requires a 100-point day. A partially completed day breaks it. If two activities can meet the same GoL — for example, running or biking — add an OR alternative so the best completed option counts.

Setting up an OR slot

  1. Tap ✎ GoLs at the top right of the Today screen.
  2. Open the GoL you want to edit and tap + Add “OR” alternative.
  3. Configure each alternative. The best answered option counts toward that GoL's score.

Partial credit

You don't have to finish a GoL to earn from it. Hitting 7,000 of a 10,000 step target banks a proportional share of that GoL's points rather than nothing at all.

Account & your data

Deleting your account

You can delete your GoL account and its data from inside the app at any time: open the You tab, scroll to Delete My Account, and confirm.

Deletion removes your logged data from GoL's servers. It does not cancel your App Store subscription — do that separately in iOS Settings (see Subscription & billing), or you'll keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.

If you can't reach the in-app option for any reason, email me from the address on your account and I'll delete it for you.

Revoking Apple Health access

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → GoL and switch off any category you'd rather GoL didn't read. It takes effect immediately, and GoL never writes to or alters your Health data.

What happens to my data

The short version: your health data is used to run the features you asked for and nothing else — never for advertising, never sold. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Reporting a bug

Email kylecressy@gmail.com with as much of this as you can:

  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
  • A screenshot or screen recording — this is worth more than any description
  • Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
  • The GoL version number, shown at the bottom of the You tab
  • Roughly when it happened, if it was a one-off

If GoL is crashing on launch, say so in the subject line and I'll prioritise it.

Feature requests

GoL is built and maintained by one person, and most of what's in it came from people writing in. If something's missing that would make the app work better for how you actually live, send it over — including the boring ones. Tell me the problem you're trying to solve rather than the feature you think would fix it; it usually leads somewhere better.
